CrossChannel is a next generation, high-capacity, 96 (192) fibre pair system that can support over 2,400Tbps of capacity.
CCL UK provided jointing and testing services to the client, Crosslake Fibre. This required specialist long range OTDR testing equipment and 8 suitably experienced personnel. Once the onshore joints were complete, the cable was tested bi-directionally between the UK cable landing point in Brighton, and the French landing point in Veules les Roses. CCL were also responsible for confirming the integrity of the subsea joint by testing during splicing works. This required flexibility from the team to be available around the clock, when called upon.
Upon the completion of the general scope, CCL’s support to the project and client continued. It was requested that CCL provide a service whereby a standby team were available to deploy within 72 hours, in the event of a fault occurring on within the subsea joint. Fortunately, no such fault occurred, and the standby team was not mobilised. The agreement has now expired.
